Big Silhouette, Small Collage: A Qin Emperor Poster

Qin Shi Huang. A guofeng game-character poster, part of a unified series. The composition splits into two sections: the top holds an enlarged facial outline or mask cut into a bold silhouette, the first thing the eye catches; the bottom holds the full standing figure in a steady pose, the second point of focus. Inside the silhouette and around the figure — a double-exposure collage layers scattered small scenes, minor figures, and supporting symbols into the misty ink wash, real and unreal bleeding into each other. A matching set of elements sits on the left and right to hold the spatial tension. One line runs from the figure at the bottom up through the silhouette at the top, threading the whole image together so the eye never scatters. Keep large areas of negative space, let the ink bleed and deliberately fracture at the edges — that's where the Eastern sense of breathing room comes from.
